My Training History

Hi, I'm John Lockett, Co-Owner and Master Trainer of K9-Perfection.

I've been a dog lover all my life. I don't think I was given a chance not to be. My father was a K-9 officer and trainer/breeder, and my grandfather, a GSD lover and breeder. They put a leash into my hand at age 3 and I haven't put it down yet. At 13, I was on a New Jersey state amateur boxing team and had little time for the usual "after school" or summer part-time jobs. My grandfather and father helped me put my ten years of "on the jobs" training to good use and Garden State K-9 was born. I started training the neighborhood dogs in basic obedience as well as to alert on command. My traveling from state to state boxing provided opportunities to meet and train with some of the best dog trainers in the world.

I love and enjoy my work. I believe I have a natural ability to get dogs to work for me. I've never stopped. I have trained breeds from the smallest Yorkie to the largest Mastiff with a clientele of hundreds that include police K-9 teams, security teams, estate/property dogs, drug and bomb detection dogs as well as personal obedience and personal protection dogs.

Co-trainer and Training Decoy: Gator Ring Sport Club, Plant City, FL **(In this club I won first, third and fifth in the PSA novice and open and was the teaching "bad guy" for the club. The club attained 20 PSA titles, 14 "High in Trial" awards and two PSA Nationa Championships.)**
